Gordy Manor

 918 West Boston Blvd.

The trappings of success.

Bought in 1967, Berry nicknamed it Gordy Manor. Three stories high, with frescoed ceilings and marble floors, it had an olympic sized swimming pool to the rear and a bowling alley in the basement. There was also an underground tunnel linking the main building to a theatre and an English style pub (the building on the left).

Berry said that although he didn't like living there, it was great for entertaining. A massive party was held there in 1969, for example, to introduce the Motown family to the Jackson Five.

Today, the building is beginning to show signs of wear and tear, which is tragic. It is apparently still under his ownership.
