i dont generally talk to people under thirty,i dont really know any teenagers im an older drag queen now- i go on the bus everyday to work and pick up bits from other people conversation as im sitting there ive noticed,and im alarmed at teenagers and the way they speak to each other - its not cussing but the use of like- ive just had to listen to this kind of babble -
girl one :"i was like walking down like the street and like i saw this bird like land infront of me and i was like thats like a huge like bird then i noticed like the bread on like the footpath and i was like its gonna like that totally like.."
girl two
h my god!like im so like scared of birds im like i find them like creepy
girl one:totally im like that is like the biggest like bird i ever like saw...
...and on it goes!! Has anyone else noticed this disturbing trend in language or does it just happen in my part of the world?[[new zealand)if this a global trend - how did it start? Where will it end? Is it the end of humankind- i want to scream every time i hear people doing it is it because their lazy? What are their teachers teaching them? Can anyone explain or am i just not hip to these cats speak?
Do they text each other and use all those likes or is it because the spoken word is losing the battle to technology..somebody help me out..
