Maybe making his estate rich. He died last year
And if you look closely at the people in the audience, you will see another Diana Ross reference at :56 seconds. The audience is is filled with singers of the past and lead singers of groups of the past. Lead singer of Casinos, Jimmy Clanton, Jimmy Rodgers, possibly Chubby Checker under that weird wig) The Browns, Len Barry, Dodie Stevens, Maurice Williams, Len Barry and others are in the audience. Mary Wilson of the Supremes is in the audience too [[ you can see her at :56 seconds in the above clip) and performs one of the Supremes hits in the clip below:
And why not? It's a great song that has been covered many times. Kiki Dee did a very good version too.
I like the song, BUT I do not like Ross' version on CD and live. Something about that arrangement and her delivery sounds off.
The guy with the weird wig was Jewel Aiken [[THE BIRDS AND THE BEES).
This was a great show. Real casual. Just a bunch of artists sitting around sharing memories and performing their hits. Perhaps the most emotional moment was when Ketty Lester sang LOVE LETTERS. She had many in tears.
Thank you for clarifying who the guy in the wig was. I would never have guessed. Guess I did not see that part. Yes, this was great to watch the artists performing with their contemporairies in the audience.
I love Ketty Lester's LOVE LETTERS. It was not until recently that I discovered that Ketty was also an actress and had a regular part in LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE
I learn something new every day. I am so glad that I joined this forum.
Nedra Talley. Dee Dee Sharp. Spot the stars!!
Mary also did STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE. I agree with Reece [[above), it was a pleasant, relaxed show. You could tell that everyone was having great fun!!!
Try searching YouTube under doo wop joe for many other clips from the show.

Marv...I think Mary played psychiatrist in that
What was the movie where Mary made a cameo as a psychiatrist?
I find it interesting that in liner notes and bios they never include the information I just read. I have to let some of my friends know about this forum.
