2016 seems to be the year that we lost so many 20th Century icons and this man was definitely one! Farewell El Presidente Castro.

His passing is all over the news today. The main difference between his death and all of the
others we've lost this year is that he was as hated, some may say more than he was loved
both at home and abroad. He did indeed strengthen his island but that he took it by force
first never was forgiven by many. There are even celebrations of his passing going on so what
does that tell you. However he did have his allies and associates, one of which I remember
was a cat born Malcolm Little, later known as Malcolm X...RIP, Fidel. Frank Sinatra aside, you
could really say "I did it my way" without a doubt...

He had strong allies in Nelson Mandela and Pierre Trudeau. He helped to overthrow Apartheid in South Africa and Angola.

Isn't he quite loved by people in Cuba?

Castro murdered thousands upon thousands. The late R.J. Rummel, a University of Hawaii professor who tracked mass-killings by governments around the world estimated as many as 140,000, were murdered by the Castro regime.

Yes he is. He seems to be most hated by Cuban-Americans though.
