Brilliant. Stokley Carmichael aka Kwame Toure had lunch in my apartment, along with his entourage when I was in college!

Oh it was much later. It was in the early 80s. He came to campus to lecture on Pan-Africanism.

I do hope Kim feels better soon. She is an unsung National Treasure in my opinion.

One of the loveliest ladies to ever come out of Motown and one that I don't think anyone ever had a harsh word for. God speed!

Was this clip from the docu film, Wattstax?
Kim recorded the song in '68 for her This is America Album on MGM, but it didn't get a lot of attention until she performed it at Wattstax in '72. It was later released as a single on the People label and, by my recollection, that's when it finally got a lot of attention. Many still regard her powerful version as definitive.
