Can anyone say Fakalettes?
I saw the Four Tops and Temptations recently...I wasn't impressed and was thinking it might be time for Otis and Duke to call it a day. The Temptations segment was a bit of a mess. The microphone levels were way too loud. I enjoyed the Four Tops segment more. I actually would rather see a group of young sound-a-likes instead sad to say. I've seen a Fleetwood Mac tribute band that was better than the band themselves nowadays and had a great time seeing them.
What was nice to see in this article is that at least if the current line up of the group doesn't contain many or any of the original members, at least the estate is benefitting in some of these situations.
I agree that there comes a point where frailty and decline of the voice would dictate to most observers that it is best to retire. Of course, if you are Otis and only have to sing background, you can conveniently put the new guys out there.
