Yes i read about his recent Vegas Residency which surprised me somewhat.
I know that some of his albums did not even get official releases in the States, yet they sold millions around the world.
Another singer who has had great success worldwide without breaking big in America is Cliff Richard. It is possible to carve out a successful musical career without attaining mass success in The States. It is a big world out there.

You can also say that about Julio Iglesias. Huge international superstar before he had any success in America. Even Westlife who Diana Ross did a duet with were mega stars outside the USA.

Westlife were indeed megastars outside the USA. I think their comeback album has just debuted at no.1 on the UK album chart yet they are totally ignored in the States.
