I the liner notes to Paul's superb 'Brenda Holloway - Spellbound' double CD, it's noted that Brenda recorded most of the Supremes Disney songs as demos. It would be nice if the these recordings finally got an official release, together with the accompanying Supremes tracks. Maybe one day.
They are certainly not down to single figures yet - the live material - aprt of that has already been released on the original Univeral - Motown anthlogy and at the very least the remainder of that show is awaiting relelase - I'd like to think that we've not come to the bottowm of the well as far as Brenda Holloway releases are concerned.
Brenda's version of "The Land Of Make Believe" is stunning.
Leave everything with me I love a challeneg
My apologies to all.
A "Complete" issue of Brenda Holloway Motown studio recordings was planned before the pandemic struck, and I duly marked the tracks as "released" in my database. I never corrected that, and when I came to write the notes for Motown Girls 4, I didn't notice that a number of Brenda's tracks remain unissued.
Unfortunately The Complete Brenda has yet to see the light of day, but ... we can hope!
Keith
The Complete Brenda, now that would be impressive [[if a little repetitive?). Put me down for at least one.

Roger, it's possible that "You Don't Hold Me In Your Arms [Like You Used To Do]" is either an early version of or the same exact track as "Bah-Bah-Bah." The title of the latter is a line in the latter song.
Your list is, as usual, impressive and gives me a lot to hope for!
Great list. I had really hoped that Brenda had recorded her own versions of California Soul [[A&S) and Ask The Lonely [[Stevenson/Hunter).
Can't Hold This Feeling Back, Have A Little Talk With Myself and I Feel Your Love Growing On Me were on her last 2-disc collection. She also did a version of Come Into My Palace with her sister Patrice that was on her anthology.
Hi Dan, hope you are well. I can`t give you a definite answer on that. I have always noted down any "assigned" titles and hints of songs without doing any more research. I don`t think so but I`m no expert I`m hoping to hear from Keith and Paul who are.
"Who Invented Heartache" stands out a mile!
Love Barbara McNair's version....maybe my favourite Motown track.
Did Ivy Hunter record Brenda on this? I'd love to hear it.
Many thanks Satan`s Blues. I`m getting a little sloppy with my records, I hope it`s not the start of dementia!
A great list by any means BUT in the majority of cases these tracks were just assigned to Brenda plus many of these have already been released and a good proportion are just wishful thinking.
Despite Brenda being one of the most prolific recording artists at the label the well is starting to run dry - not exhausted but running near empty. I guess you cannot keep releasing vault material forever it has to come to an end at some point. I've long since searched as have others for the few tracks that have circulated as acetates but with no success...
Thanks Paul, I look forward anything you find on Brenda.
Woohoo! My copy arrived today. It's so great to get some 'new' Motown in my hands and around my ears. Huge thanks to Keith Hughes and all the team at ACE.
Ordered at £12.92 direct from ACE and free delivery in the UK - bargain!!
A bit tardy to the party here...but I am loving this latest Motown Girls. My favourite is Barbara McNair's "Watching A Plane In The Sky". I was reading that this track is considered unfinished, but it sounds quite amazing to me
Hi, long-time reader, first-time poster here. Just curious to know if the Brenda Holloway complete recordings set mentioned above is still coming? I hope so!
Thanks.

It's been & gone.
No, that's not it - that was released in 2013 [10 years ago already?!] - I'm referring to Keith Hughes' post [#60 above]:
It's been nearly two years since then and I haven't seen anything more about it, so I thought I'd ask here to see if it was still in the works.A "Complete" issue of Brenda Holloway Motown studio recordings was planned before the pandemic struck, and I duly marked the tracks as "released" in my database. I never corrected that, and when I came to write the notes for Motown Girls 4, I didn't notice that a number of Brenda's tracks remain unissued.
Thanks, Keith. I have all the Ace Motown releases, by the way - keep them coming!
Meanwhile, hopefully that Brenda set will emerge sooner rather than later...
