I think someone once mentioned that it also depended on where they wore the dresses. The red short dresses they wore on the Sonny and Cher comedy hour for example. I don't like them but, that same person, said that they looked good when they wore them on a dark stage with lights shining on them. There is a photo of Scherrie wearing that dress and it looks good indeed.

Also that last pic of them pink dresses. The side view, Scherrie on that photo, of them dresses look odd. Front view looks ok.

and of course we're only seeing a static image of the dress in a photo from the 70s, most likely taken with an inexpensive personal camera without benefit of lighting and all. plus we're not seeing the movement of the clothing
