    Elvis Presley and Motown

Does anyone know if Elvis ever recorded any of the Motown songs or if any of the Motown Artists recorded songs made famous by Elvis?

I can imagine Levi Stubbs with the Four Tops doing "In the Ghetto" and doing a great job with the song.

I know he and Mary Wilson met in Vegas. He made a joke once in concert that if the Sweet Inspirations did not straighten up, he would fire them and get the Supremes! LOL!

I think Lisa Marie married one of the Jacksons.

There was, of course, a Barbara McNair connection with Elvis and his films.

Chris Clark recorded Crying In The Chapel. There were a number of other songs in common such as "Help Me Make It Through The Night" and "High Heal Sneakers".

Elvis recorded "I'll Be There" - a song written pre-Motown by Bobby Darin.

Thank you Copley. I am more than a bit surprised that Elvis seemingly did not record any of the Motown hits especially in the early 70's when he seemed to be getting closer to a R&B sound. I'd like to find at least one example of that.

Elvis, well actually Colonel Tom Parker, wanted half if not all the publishing for almost every song Elvis recorded. Berry wouldve never gave that away. Its also why when Elvis wanted to cut I Will Always Love You he didnt because Dolly Parton refused to give Parker the publishing.

I just watched the new Elvis film, which I thought was very good! It has now turned me onto "In The Ghetto", which was played over the film's ending.

I also really like Chris Clark's version, which is very well done!!
