I consider LA DIVA to be the best of Aretha's latter-day Atlantic albums. I think ROLLING STONE even gave it a passable review. Particular faves of mine are ITS GONNA GET A BIT BETTER, HONEY I NEED YOUR LOVE, REASONS WHY, HALF A LOVE [the second single], and WHAT IF I SHOULD EVER NEED YOU. I even came around to liking LADIES ONLY after a few listens.
Re Aretha, I also love her versions of Van's FOLLOW YOUR HEART, SO SOON, SWEET BITTER LOVE [1965, 1967, and 1985 versions], LEAN ON ME, and WALK SOFTLY.
