Hallelujah she would of done an incredible job
Hallelujah she would of done an incredible job
I think Diana could've sung the phone book and you'd think it's incredible, lol.
Not every singer should attempt every song.
I believe this was discussed before and someone said it was a gospel/soul song and that Diana couldn’t do it. It is not a gospel/soul song but a pop song written by Leonard Cohen who wrote Summertime. Of course Diana could sing it and sing it well.
True, it is not a gospel/Christian song although lots of people think so just because of the repeating Hallelujah and the reference to David who was tied to a chair. Musically, it has very moving melody
and the most interesting captivating chord patterns. As a church musician. I cringe when folk request that I perform it as an instrumental solo.
Diana, in my opinion, would find it hard to ever identify with this song lyrically.
Yeah, the lyrics don't really fit into the kind of songs she prefers to sing these days. Would not fit in with the songs from the Thank You album that's for sure.
Baby I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
Yeah, I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But listen love, love is not some kind of victory march
No it's cold and it's ever a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
There was a time when you'd let me know
What's really going on below
Oh but now you never show it to me, do ya?
Oh but I remember yeah, when I moved in you
And the holy dove she was moving too
Yes and every single breath that went through us, Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
As for me all I ever seemed to learn from love
Is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
Yeah but it's not a complaint that you hear tonight
It's not the laughter of someone who claims to have seen the light
No it's cold and it's ever a lonely Hallalujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel so I learned to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come all this way to fool you
Yeah and even though it all went wrong
I'll stand right here before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Back in the day when she was in her prime she would of had one of the best versions of this song she’s got the soul Merry Christmas all
It’s not a song that seems to fit with her today - maybe in the era of Touch Me in the Morning.
I believe she could do a good version.
Can someone post the video or at least a link to the song please.
Thank you jobeterob.
God would send a meteor down to destroy the earth.
When there's a good recording, every other attempt seems to fall short. To me, Darlene's "Christmas" is just about perfect. So any other version; U2, Mariah, and others, at least to me, is lackluster.
I'm sure Diana would have given it a go, but it's hard to compete when there's near perfection elsewhere.
