    Stevie Wonder's GOLDEN LADY

.... was an album cut on his 1973 INNERVISIONS lp released in August.

seems like this should've been released as a single. quite lovely.

Jose Feliciano had a go at it:

Jazz musicians and singers have been all over Golden Lady since Stevie dropped it. I
love the most recent covers like Cory and others above but I have a special fondness for
Abbey Lincoln's early cover of it..

Yes indeed, Stevie Wonder's "Golden Lady" is a fantastic song [and would've done well as a single]. And seeing how many artists have covered the song, it's truly a favorite.

I absolutely love Jose's version of this and I'm a little surprised nobody has taken up the mantle of releasing his Motown catalogue - I think it could sell quite well as he has his own band of fans plus the Motown ones.

My current go to Motown song of the moment . Sounds great on the car stereo.
It seems like Stevie is going out of his way to be almost monotone, intentional voice control, not running his voice all over the place. It creates an element of calmness to this piece. Jazzy smooth.
Quite a few renditions , but apparently only Jose Feliciano released a single.

The Jose Feliciano Motown albums are available as mp3 downloads through Amazon. As much as I would like a physical release, I downloaded them. The music was wonderful on them.
