Seizing on a medical milestone that doesn’t exist, President Donald Trump said Tuesday [June 16] he thinks the same scientific expertise that produced a vaccine for AIDS can deliver one soon for COVID-19, too. “These are the people – the best, the smartest, the most brilliant anywhere, and they’ve come up with the AIDS vaccine. They’ve come up with, as you know, there’s various things, and now various companies are involved … AIDS was a death sentence, and now people live a life with a pill. It’s an incredible thing.”
There is no vaccine for AIDS.

Ten dollars to a donut he will say he was misquoted or that someone [[mostly like a democrat) twisted his words. Maybe even Obama's people. Or Obama himself...

And his sheeple will believe it, even though his words speak for themselves. Lord, November can't get here soon enough.

Like all of you, I am looking forward to Trump’s rally in Tulsa today. Actually, I’m looking forward to two weeks from now, when [[I am praying) every single one of those morons comes down with an unexplainable cough, fatigue, fever, vomiting, and loss of the sense of taste. Oklahoma is already reporting an all-time high of 450 new cases of corona virus this week so we know the bug is out there. It just has to show up at the BOK Center on Saturday night.
But most of all, I’m looking forward to when the Oklahoma public health commissioner, as his state’s ICUs are inundated with very sick old white people, turning to the cameras and saying,
    “Fuck Trump.”

Wow. The Lincoln Project is all in on President Pennywise. This one took less than 24 hours to produce.

    Comment about Trump rally attendance:
"It's like his honeymoon. Smaller than expected and nobody came."

America systematically traumatizes its children , and it isn’t really part of some “liberal socialist progressive agenda”, it is much closer to an NRA-sponsored national policy:
Hey kids, let’s play a game! Really scary men with guns are gonna break into our school and we are gonna barricade the classroom and try not to get killed by them!
Don’t worry, though. If these scary men shoot you, it’ll be ‘pretend-shooting’, and you won’t really be dead.
We are playing this game because REAL scary men with REAL guns COULD COME IN AT ANY MINUTE AND KILL YOU FOR REAL!
Anyway, start piling your desks against the door. This is only a drill. I hope.

And now, during the height of a pandemic, we have our government’s Infective Branch transmitting the inspirational exhortations of Boss Tweet:
You kids need to get back into class. Now. All of you, packed in like sardines. Pronto. But don’t worry about the virus. You probably won’t get it, and if you do, you probably won’t die.
Remember this. Only old, sick people die.
People like your parents or grandparents, for example.
But they’ll probably be afraid to come anywhere near you when you come home from your daily dose of free-range Covid, so you might not, probably, maybe not kill them. But you’ll be fine either way.
Social distancing isn’t needed at school, you can do that stuff at home: just make sure to never leave your bedroom- except to go to school, of course. If they shave a couple inches off the bottom of your door, your parents will be able to slide pizzas, flapjacks, pastries and all sorts of other treats under it,allowing them to show their love without actually having to see you or touch you. Trust me, I know this works.
Don’t worry about feeling sad or afraid either- when I was your age, I went seventeen years without a hug from my father, and I turned out great. I’m sure you will turn out great too. Not as great as me, of course, but still great.
And if you do wind up killing your family in a totally preventable accident that everyone saw coming, it is your honor and duty -as an American- to pretend that this sacrifice was not in vain.
I mean have you seen the Dow today? Tremendous!

Imagine growing up knowing that your actions, however unwilling and unwitting they may have been, directly led to the death of a family member. You won’t have to imagine it for long, because this crushing emotional weight will soon become just another zany patch in our crazy, everyday American quilt, much like shooting drills,DIY tear-gas remedies and ‘crowd-funded’ surgery.
If our kids learn anything at all from being used as virus-bait in a culture war cum quagmire , they’ll “learn to live with it”, with “it” being the hovering specters of death, grief and guilt, the joyless building blocks for the Great Pyramid of Modern Dysfunction.
    And then there’s The Talk.
If you are white and you don’t know what The Talk is, ask that “black friend” that you are always mentioning.
    Uh huh.
I hope today’s kids see what’s behind the curtains and call bullshit on all of it, that they understand that what the adults-in-charge are labeling as “re-building” is really just putting barbed-wire on top of rubble and calling it “civilization”.
Can they see that the jobs that they are being groomed for largely come in two categories: one group of workers who put landmines into the rubble, and a second group to pull those landmines out of the rubble so that the first group can put them back in again?
This is called “productivity” and going along with it can really help your FICO score, but it’s also likely to kill you, literally and figuratively, especially if you are in the second group. Which you are.
    But hey.
Who wouldn’t want a good job juggling explosives? How else are you gonna get medical coverage; the desperate, wobbly kind of insurance that’ll use a technicality to deny your claim for a prosthetic arm?
    You know, after the accident.
The accident which will never happen, of course, because our landmines are almost as safe as our coal mines.
“Never mind the pile of dead canaries underfoot, it was windmills that killed them, or maybe they died of hoax. Nothing to worry about. If we keep digging, we’ll eventually be safe from windmills and hoaxes, so grab a shovel, kids! Dig in! And in! And in! Deeper!”
Can kids today be smarter than their adults? It would be challenging to be dumber, so perhaps they’ll be smarter simply by default. It’s a low bar, admittedly.
I mean, there are folks here crying out in defense of Confederate statues: “how will we avoid the mistakes of the past if we destroy history?”, they wail.
    Really?
We can’t even avoid repeating the mistakes of February 2020, and those fuck-ups were on the TV and Web 24/7, JUST SIX MONTHS AGO; so it’s pretty obvious that some grubby old statues aren’t gonna help us much in the “learn from our mistakes” department.
Adults, hit the books. Teach your children while you still can, because that classroom ain’t gonna be open as long as you think it is.
