"Nightflight" Tue July 19, 9P-12M ET:...and Now for Something Completely Different!

Howdy, Pardners! Motown...Motown...Motown! Do we EVER get tired of it? Of COURSE not! But every now and then, I think it's important to cleanse the musical palate with something a bit light and frothy...simple and breezy...quick and snappy.

So tonight, as a midsummer "Nightflight's" change of pace....Television Theme Songs and Rare Coke commercials. Will there be any Motown....of course! I have always been facinated by TV theme songs because of the creativity and efficiency involved in their productions. These tiny pieces of music have to grab a listener very quickly and explain, with music and/or words, what the audience will be seeing in the following 23 minutes. They are basically promos for the actual show. And, so often, they are written with brilliance and executed by some of the great musicians and vocalists of our time [[Dusty Springfield, B. J. Thomas, The Wrecking Crew, Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams, Blinky Williams, Patrice Holloway... and so many others)! I also have some of the great British TV show themes. And, as usual, I scoured the four corners of the earth to find the best versions and the authentic TV show intros and outros and authentic extended versions too.

So join me tonight...to see if I air some of YOUR favorites...on "Nightflight"....on WOMR 92.1 FM Provincetown and WFMR 91.3 FM Orleans and streaming live worldwide in digital stereo at www.womr.org

    Thanks!
    John

    Hey Johnny-

Great idea for a show. Looking forward to your creative use of these themes and commercials. Among my faves, "Charlie's Angels", "Twilight Zone", "Hawaii 5-0" and "Nobody Else But You" from The Bette Midler Show. See you on the radio my friend. JOsEph

Oops. That is a non-Coke TV commercial so it probably doesn't fit the theme of TV theme songs or coke commercials. Sorry. I'll settle for some Love American Style by The Cowsills.Jim

"Different Worlds". I have it by Maureen McGovern, but I don't know if that's the original?

These make me feel young, again!
Too bad you did not have all the "Alice" versions, as each one was different and significant to the season and character.
    Loved "Phyllis"!
The show lasted 3 years and Cloris tells wonderful and tragic stories about what went "right" and "wrong".
I hope you can play The Cowsills' "Love American Style", also! The TV version, NOT their album version.

    or the home game.
