So sorry to hear this. He was a great singer and entertainer and from what I've heard a great friend to many. May God rest his soul. My condolences to his family. Thank you Chuck!
Very sad news. May he rest in power and may the family find peace.
This was Chuck's favourite of the Dells' recordings:

Thank you for this Heikiki. A lovely tribute to an outstanding talent. Another all time great leaves us. There are not many left.
Hi!
This is what Mr. Sydney Barnes still kindly wanted to add to my tribute:
Very good article my friend, however he failed to tell you that he was a back up singer on the first Rotary Connection album on Chess's Cadet Concept label. Chuck was a great guy to be around. He will be missed. That's Chuck standing next to Minnie Riperton in the Chess studio.

They also worked as background singers for Dinah Washington and toured with her.
That's right, Marv.
They can also be heard on records by Betty Everett, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Wade Flemons, Andre Williams, Etta James, Joe Murphy, Ted Taylor, Cicero Blake, Jo Ann Garrett, Bobby Jones, the Opals etc., and even sang as the Players.
Best regards
Heikki
Chuck had quite a life, not only being one of the Dells but also for a time being a groupmate of Marvin Gaye's with Harvey's Moonglows for a time. May he RIP!
Ah, rest in peace Chuck, and thank you for the music.
