I had no idea that Bill Cosby had recorded for Motown but I'm holding the album in my hands ; "Himself" 1982... don't think it did well, never heard of it or about it

I did not know it either. According to David Bianco's HEAT WAVE, they show 3 albums.
Black Forum 455 The Congressional Black Caucus - Ossie Davis and Bill Cosby.
Motown 719 Diana - Diana Ross. Includes songs by Jackson Five and segments
featuring Bill Cosby and Danny Thomas.
TMG 6026 Himself [[original motion picture sound track). Also available in CD.
I can't recall which specific album but one Motown release had liner notes by Bill Cosby. I had done a posting on this ages ago.
I've had the Bill Cosby "Himself" CD in my collection for a few years now. Motown 719 was the soundtrack album to the "Diana!" TV Special from 1971 which I also have on CD.

I have the vinyl for "Himself" which has a different cover; it's basically a 'live' audience stand up comedy album; he did lots of Motown related things during the 60's and 70's
My favorite by Bill Cosby came out my senior year in high school called "Yes,Yes,Yes".
At one stage, in a different time, he was a huge star and highly sought after - not anymore

10 albums in the Top 40
He does a great job on A PLACE IN THE SUN.
Such a shame that after attaining TV superstardom and domminating television for decades and becoming a household name Bill Cosbys probably going to be sent to jail in next week where hes gonna spend the rest of his days. Sad for Cosby but hoping and praying that all those women that he drugged and raped can put all of this behind now.

Surprised nobody remembered this comedy/novelty cover by Cosby of Stevie Wonders "Uptight" re-titled as "Little Ole Man"... Released on Warner Brothers in the late 60's, it was arranged by future Motown stalwart James Carmichael [[Commodores and many other Motown artists) https://youtu.be/K3T2J9bLKww

I actually thought he might already be in jail
People like Cosby actually think they aren’t doing anything wrong - because they have money and privilege
Much like Donald Dump

His sentencing date is a week from now.
"Himself" came from the movie of the same name that became the basis for The Cosby Show. Think it was filmed in Toronto, Ontario in December 1982.
Most of the jokes he told came from two previous albums, 1977's My Father Confused Me and 1978's Bill's Best Friend.
The reason these albums didn't do good was simple actually: he was considered old by comedy standards.
