Nice Interview with Otis of the Temptations

An interesting interview with Otis of Temps

Williams might not admit this, but he is probably the least talented singer – and certainly the least talented dancer – ever to be a Temptation. On Papa Was a Rollin' Stone, for example, which earned him his second Grammy, he was the only Tempt not to sing a lead.

But – like Ringo Starr in the Beatles or Charlie Watts in the Rolling Stones – Williams describes himself as "the glue which holds us together". Even when that meant firing the lead singer – the equivalent of John Lennon or Mick Jagger.

Otis did sing the occasional lead, possible one of his best here.

By the way that part about Stevie... well... lol...

"Only one Stevie in Motown, man," says Otis Williams when asked to confirm the identity of the musical legend who – as a teenage prankster – would stumble around the suburban Detroit house later known as Hitsville.

"He'd bump into women, and touch their breasts.

"They'd yell, 'Stevie, Stevie, stop that!'," Williams continues.

    "And he'd say, 'I'm sorry. Y'all know I'm blind!'."

I remember in the movie about the Temptations when they got ripped off before they became popular; Otis said he was going to learn all he could about the business.
