So much fun in 1980;

Great memory from 1969:
So much great music came out in 1978:
You guys are killing it!! Great postings!
One of my favorite years [[I graduated in 1980). I was so conflicted by this album. On one hand, George Benson is so underrated as a jazz artist, I wished that he would only perform jazz, so the album was a disappointment even with the great songs Dinorah, Dinorah, Moody's Mood, and Off Broadway. On the other hand, it was produced by Q at the height of his game and had a huge contribution from my favorite writer, Rod Temperton. There was too much of what I loved to hate it like I wanted to. There is not a bad song on the album.
I don't know about you, but some songs are musical snapshots for me, bringing back memories of friends I had and things I did. That's what this song does when I hear it.
Jerry,i hear ya brother..i love george benson too and like you i still wish he would just play only because he tends sing more than play, but of course he is a very good vocalist and a jazz legend.
When this number dropped in the Winter of 1974-75 we loved it. I always felt it was the shortest, funkiest song hands down!
It is the tail end of 1976 and this was on my radio.......
Moving on up to the Mid 80s 1985 to be exact and some my happiest, hardest party years LOL! Sting - "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free"

Did we do this? My memories of basketball season 1973! "Love Train" by the Mighty O'Jays!!!
From the Fall of 1983, Rufus and Chaka Khan......."Ain't Nobody"!
Georgie! George Harrison and "What Is Life" from 1970:
The Supremeskis again! If you listen closely you can hear Smokey Robinson singing in the background in the a synthesized voice! "Your Wonderful Sweet, Sweet Love"
Marv you are out doing yourself. Loving the mix you posted tonight!
Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes - I Miss You from the Summerof '72
Champaign had two incredibly underrated ballads. Both were hits but neither seems to get played or mentioned anywhere. The first was "How 'Bout Us" and the next was "Try Again":
This used to be my jam:
I remember listening to it my first year out of high school.
At the same time, Bob Marley & the Wailers finally crossed over with this record:
And this one, as well:
One of my sincere beliefs is that Jodeci was/is the last true soul band. They had so many fantastic songs that could only be classified as soul even though they were mainly a '90s group.
And this. K-Ci and JoJo are as timeless for me as Marvin, Stevie, and Michael. Don't pile on me, it's just my opinion.
Mid-80s. Keith Sweat had a dynamic album and this will be an oldie but goodie for me when/if I'm in my 90s.
Same Summer. Same discos. Same prime of my life was spent listening to this:
This one, too. The '80s might be remembered as a great decade for Pop, but in my opinion the R&B from that era was fantastic.
Guy was so hot.
Guy's lead singer, Aaron Hall had a hit with this song. The video's heartbreaking take on the already sad song gave people chills.
This is when Steve Arrington's voice and Mark Adam's bass were instantly recognizable as the sound of Slave:
I saw them in a concert when I was in high school touring off of this album. They were with Rufus and the Brothers' Johnson.
And although Mass Production wasn't really one of my favorite bands, they had some of my all-time favorite songs, including "Firecracker".
A few years earlier, Brick busted with one of the all-time baddest rhythms ever.
The Brothers Johnson had a classic for every Black kid who appreciated a great house party. This song was played at all of them.
And another fantastic cut from the '70s. If you don't sing it when you hear it, then you can't be a friend of mine.
Remember this one? I bought the album "Minnie" at the end of June 1979....two weeks later Minnie died.
I love minnie.
From Washington DC and one of the coldest, snowiest winters I remember, the Winter of 1975-76. Terry Huff & Special Delivery - I DESTROYED YOUR LOVE :
Hey marv, true story, when that classic was out,i was trying to reunite my old singing group and i had to learn that lead being a first tenor and it was hard singing it because of the pitch, but i was young and cocky...i killed it!!
One of the greatest love song of the 80s, maybe not the best video, but a classic all the same.....
For some reason this song always makes me remember the first time I drove through Camden, NJ in the Summer of 1985. This was a HUGE hit. Rene & Angela and "I'll Be Good"!
Aww JAI! You were in a group man? First tenor is difficult for almost everyone. How long were you guys together? I use to sing along with that classic every time it came on the radio. It was number one for like 7 weeks in the Detroit-Toledo area. A girls group from my high school performed it very well at our Spring concert in 1976.
I was in a group for about a week before we broke up over who was going to be the main lead singer! LOL! Our song was the O'Jays "She Usta Be My Girl" and "It's You That I Need" by Enchantment.
