I will be honest and say I generally listen to the The O'Jays version of this song so it's been a while since I heard New Birth's. Still enjoyable....
Let her cry, for she's a lady
Let her dream, she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower growing wild

Aretha and George Michael !
This was the anthem on our school bus when I was in high school. Every kid would stop what he was doing and sing this word for word.
I'm still a big Steve Arrington fan. This song was my favorite of his when he was with Slave:
And here's the song that broke him as a singer. I love Mark Adams' bass playing.
Let's wait awhile-janet jackson
That reminds me of this video. I used to love watching it. That was easily one of my favorite videos from the '80s. Janet was, in my mind, the personification of youth back then even though we're about the same age. The camera following her around with few edits was a fantastic way to bring this tune to life in video.
From the height of my party days in NYC! LOL!
I wanna make it with you-ewf
Wishing everybody a Happy New Year! Let's start the party by posting some of your favorite jams you like to get down to:
If you're going to put SOLAR era Whispers into the mix, don't forget their first hit for the label [[still one of my favorite cuts by one of my favorite outfits). This is when Leon Sylvers came into his own as a truly great producer and musician.
And here is one of their tracks from later in the run on the label. What a great group.
