Although radio stations at the time banned this one, we heard it at house parties and around the neighborhood. We're a Winner - The Impressions 1968
Great job Marv. Your selections are excellent. Really enjoying these.
Ha, they sound like fun!! Especially with guests like that... 😂
The sweet Sound of New York! Little Anthony and The Imperials "Hurt So Bad"
Down the road a bit to one my hometowns, Philadelphia and the Delfonics with "La-La Means I Love You" ~ 1968

Nice!! - and you're welcome
Wow, I wish I had been alive when this music was coming out!!!
From our 4th Grade class party at Ottawa River Elementary School! Gladys Knight & the Pips and "Friendship Train" -1969 :
I must say I was more into the soul shouters so it took me a minute to appreciate how much soul Sam Cooke express without having to out run a song. Here is my favorite by him.
EWF - Devotion. Love the live version. The harmonies on this song is awesome. This is more recent clip but the version from the 70's is the one.
No many how times I have heard this song I always want to get up and dance.
Here is a hidden gem. One of my favorites and can't believe it wasn't a hit. The Precisions - You're the Best That Ever Did It
Miss Bettye Swan everybody.....................from 1967!

All the big kids on my block seemed to be singing this one back in the summer of '66. Mr. Jimmy Ruffin:
From that same summer we have the Isley Brothers and "This Old Heart of Mine"
Yes more awesome picks! Marv I was thinking about "This Old Heart Of Mine" to add. Jimmy Ruffin's "Brokenhearted" is just an immortal classic to me.
Another Classic Soul JAM from the summer of '66...
While "My Girl" is probably their signature song, "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" is my favorite. But they have so many classic songs.
Thanks Luciano and great choice TomatoTom!
Before the truly got "Funked Up"! LOL!!! The Parliaments - "[[I Wanna) Testify" - 1967
OMG...Yes Marv!!! That record is the bomb!
I just love this tune! I can't believe it only went to #10 on the R&B chart but did make it to #1 on the Pop Chart.
This one did make it to #1 on the R&B charts.
Now here are some baddd sistas here! The Pointer Sisters doin' it back in 1975!

The Dells!!!! There's a lot of plastic faces of every kind....
LTD's "Love Ballad" featuring the truly underrated Jeffrey Osborne.
My favorite song by The Preacher talking about Harry, Mary and their kids.
Luciano, speaking of the Dells. The next three I'm posting are a Triple play from the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti, Michigan area. First up, Miss Barbara Lewis with "Hello Stranger" backed up by none other than the Dells! From 1963:
Mr. Deon Jackson and "Love Makes The World Go Round" from 1966:
Ashford & Simpson - "Is It Still Good To Ya", [[1978) Nick was from Ypsilanti.
