I had a pet vampire bat. Not much of a pet, if I may say. Slept all day and woke with a nasty disposition at night. He sucked.

It's a dog's life, to be sure. But when this old world starts getting me down and people are just too much for me to face. I climb right up to the top of the stairs and all my cares just drift right into space. I like to go up on the woof.

And we all have the innate desire to be served. And I'd wager some desire service more than others. I am currently watching Ken Burns' documentary about the American Civil War and I'm both saddened and amazed at how 'common men' spend their lives for the causes of others in places of authority. Life should be so much more important than war.

Depends on each individual's interpretion of life? While the thought of it appals me, it does seem that war is life itself to many.

I'm willing to die for a just cause. I'm not willing to run headlong into a hellfire of bullets and mortar shells because some general wanted to know what happened if I did. There has been so much lost potential due to ego and greed. And it goes back to the beginning of mankind's social interactions.
