Jackie Wilson and that cigarette - live video

This video brought the memories flooding back to his apprearance in London in the 70s. Wearing the same outfit, Jackie came sprinting on stage and raced around like a Whirling Dervish, cigarette in hand. Unfortunately, during his first spin, he inadvertently jettisoned the cigarette and scrambled around the stage to retrieve said object. I never do recall him taking a puff, so always wondered is this was a one off stage prop. Nope, here's that cigarette!

Nice photo, S.S. It was a sad loss, he was a singer with a very distinctive delivery. I like Eddie Holland who delivers in a somewhat similar style

    MikeUK,
Jackie had the greatest "pure" voice of his time, in the 60's he was the favorite of all solo male artists.

Marv2, yep, and what a sexy way he had of talking to you in general, lol.

Sister, my Mom still brags on Jackie Wilson. Several years ago she showed me inside the old Civic Auditorium in Toledo, Ohio where she first saw Jackie perform back in the fifties He made an impact on a lot of people.

That is one thing I loved about TV back then you could sing the classics and still be with the teenagers. Jackie had one of the best voices in the world.

Jackie's range and riffs blew me away. He knew what to do, when to do it and most of all, how to do it. Will we ever have singers like him [[and others) like that again?
