I just watched Spike Lee's "Red Hook Summer" and just had to share this one"
love this song Marv. Haven't heard it in years, actually decades. I'll have to check that movie out.
Glen, check the movie out. I didn't even know Spike had released it in 2012. The scene where they use this music is quite startling and as the film took a very unexpected twist~! I caught it on Netflix. One interesting observation I made about "Jesus Is the Lover of My Soul" is that it has a VERY similar backing track as Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 "Mas Que Nada". Not trying to start anything, I'm just sayin' ......................LOL!
HMMM, Marv you may be on to something...never thought about it but definitely hear the similarities in the two songs. Didn't realize Sergio's track was 1966 [[what an AWESOME year...Funny thing is I have a Masters at Work disc that I run to and that's the opening track. I can remember Twinkie Clark saying that it was Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" that inspired the music to this classic summer jam
I believe Twinkie. When they do the rapid fire reciting of lyrics it is very similiar to what Stevie did on "Master Blaster "Jammin'.
One of my all time fave gospel clips on YouTube....
This past weekend, the girls and I saw a play at the Arena Players about Mahalia Jackson.
Two new faves of mine were featured in HBO's True Detective:

Glen, check out the good Reverand Al Green here:
A great memory from my High School Days.. Family friend Rev. Rance Allen:
Great selections Marv, keepem' coming. Just met The Rance Allen Group a few weeks ago at a tv taping that I was photographing. It was The Gospel According To Dorinda with Dorinda Clark Cole
Speaking of a Clark Sister and Rance Allen, here he is with Twinkie Clark
Thank you Marv. I mostly shoot with the Canon 60D. Rance is the truth and he's still got it. Had that television audience on fire by the time he finished.
Ok Glen, you picked some real good ones then, but check alittle bit of this out!
