I'm wondering how Marv feels about all these Tributes articles on Diana's 70th Birthday. She has more tributes that Aretha Franklin is getting!
It must be a stinging rebuke! I think this is where we go "he he" LOL.
Happy birthday to the ultimate supreme !!!!!
Well, Aretha turned 72 so I don't think that qualifies as a "milestone" year. We also got to see some nice pics from her birthday celebration in New York.
I think the tributes to Diana are more diverse partially because she resonates in some areas where Aretha does not and vice versa. For example, I remember seeing a lot of gospel sites feting Aretha on her last big birthday and this year, we're seeing Diana's 70th show up on fashion blogs and sites. Diana also seems to have Hollywood/Film shout outs going on today as well as the LGBT online presence.

I'm curious what everyone's favorite moments is, did it make the list?
From Joan Rivers:
Diana Ross turned 70 last week! Now when she reaches out to touch somebody's hand it's because she can't get up without help.
Was that from The laurie Beachum show? I was gonna try to stay for it, but had to get back home to work. Joan is hilarious live.
The RLF will get Joan for that.
Joan is about the only person who could say that and I wouldn't be upset. I think that is her way of showing love, and given that she is so much Diana's senior I think that makes it ok as well. As Lulu said.. she does a lot of self deprecating humor. It's nice to see Diana getting so much recognition in honor of her birthday!
Anyone who has seen Joan's show knows that she'll say ANYTHING about ANYONE. IF Miss Ross was needing help up, it wouldn't be OK with me, but she's rockin it so, I thought it was clever enough to be in her act. She does these gigs a lot at the last minute in Manhattan and she is a scream. We laughed so hard, our sides ached and our hearts went pitter-pat.
Very cool. But she didn't win the "Best Actress" Golden Globe in 1973. Liza Minnelli did. Diana won a GG for "New Comer of the Year". I'll also add that dumb ass Desi Arnaz Jr. [[BF of Liza at the time) presented that award and "forgot" to read Diana's name as one of the nominees. When he opened the envelope he realized he screwed up and called Diana "Deeanna Ross" and then again screwed up her name when he read her name as the winner. Fool.
Oh wow! Sounds like old school to me! Are like like the SLA or the Weather Underground?
I was a student at Cal Berkeley in the 70's when the SLA was running around. A pack of fools. But scary as hell. I actually used to see Patrica Hearst around campus and around town. She seemed like a nice kid. Didn't come across as a snotty rich girl. She seemed very in love with Steven Weed. My boyfriend [[and future husband) lived on Benevue Ave in Berkeley the same street where Patty and Steve lived. When I would stay over at his place [[brazen hussy that I was) we would sometimes see them walking around. The whole vibe of that area and at school changed when she was kidnapped. Sorry to go off topic. Being the kid on the block I hope I don't get sent to detention.
