This is mine.....hands down.
This is mine.....hands down.
The classic pose. Hands down favorite for me. In fact, I framed it with a burgundy border and burnished silver steel frame. EVERYONE comments on it. Pure glam.

I've always loved this:
This is the one I had professionally framed. I guess you'd call the technique a shadow box with pink border.
Couldn't possibly say.
But here's 2 that I like a lot:

This is my all time favorite picture of the group:
Another favorite that I remember......
I'm probably the only one...but N/A for me.
I like the first one from TOUCH
My favourites...
Mine is first one Marv posted and I believe there is an outake from those album pics I like even more.
The styling of that pic is great. I love the whole "Black is Beautiful" concept. Mary and Cindy look fine! Jean looks almost perturbed. She looks as if she's thinking WTF??????
Jean has a hard look to her at times, yet she is very soft-spoken. Love her voice. She was a fine addition to the Supremes.
Its sometimes funny how we view things differently. To mean Jean looks like a proud, earthy, black , beautiful woman. I may be stating the obvious, but she looks naturally gorgeous to me. The first time I saw that picture was in the newspapers and it startled me. I was use to the Supremes with heavy make up and wigs. That was a refreshing and stunning photo to start the 70's.
Favorite picture? Too many to show, but here's a few of the highlights for me...
Those are some very nice pics Brad. I especially like the last two.
Another one of my choices:
"sing h/d/h" cover!
That's a great one of Mary, Cindy, Scherrie. Never saw that one before. Love it!
I love the Copa shot that Carlo has posted here and always thought it was the one that should have been chosen for the album's cover. Perhaps it was felt that the one they went with was more 'alive'; it does seem that in the photo posted here, The Supremes are posing for their shot and that they may have then been superimposed onto the band's photo. Whatever the case may be, I think the girls are shown to much better advantage in the shot posted here, and the clarity of The Supremes as seen in contrast to the hazy, sepia-tone of the band's shot makes the girls almost appear to be in 3-D. It's a beautiful photo of them and a wonderful effect that didn't quite make it to its rightful place--on the cover of the album.
Do we know if there were Quality Control decisions regarding album covers? A departmental decision? Producers' decision? Were album covers handled by an outside agency? If this is too far off the track of the thread, I can bring it up another time.
P.S. to Blueskies - This thread is a lot of fun. Very enjoyable and interesting to see which photos are being selected by members. I've got dibs on Revvy's photo--with the burgundy border and burnished silver steel frame thrown in, if you don't mind. Sounds awfully nice.

My two favorite pics of the girls
CaptainJames - Your first picture of The Supremes is truly one of their best. I've sometimes seen it referred to as the "Shish Kabob shot" which always makes me chuckle--because it's so right! A truly great photo. Iconic from the get-go.
P.S. Love the shot with Ed Hurst, too.
Literally too many to choose from but I've always been partial to these:
Koach,
The back album cover of the MSS - Sweet Dream Machine! Lord, have mercy. Scherrie is definitely the sexy one.
1 of my favorites of D/M/C
Another favorite of D/M/C
A great one of D/M/F
From The Red Skelton Show February 1966 singing "Mother Dear"
My fave iconic pic is with B-W dresses from Ed Sullivan show Diana's arms splayed upwards the dresses are on thread 28 can someone post the one i mean. I have loved this pic from first time i saw in Motown Story book from '70 It signifies everything Supremes to me, cheers.
This one?
Those black and white "inkspots" are hands down my favorite Supremes gowns of all time, followed by the "peacock", the rainbow "halter top", and "poodle bottom". Does anybody know what color the poodle bottoms were? The pics are always B/W and with Florence. They look either white, champagne or baby pink.
For Jean Terrell & The Supremes [[at some point, a designation should have been made other than stamping "The Supremes" on any group of singers who want the legacy) I like Marv's first. We agree so often! In fact, this is how he greeted me just this morning on Youtube:

Look fat boy! Because this is the way you choose to waste yourself [[arguing about some 70 year old women singers) , I don't have the time. Go to Hell, kiss my ass, blow me bitch. It that doesn't cover it, I might be back you fat bastard!
Anyway, I love the turtleneck shots from New Ways But love Stays.
For the original Supremes, hands down - the shish kabob.
Runner up: the backstage pic above with Ross in the chair

Wait a minute! Isn't there a color pic of DMF on the back of an album cover and they are shot from the back of the stage facing the audience? I think the poodle gowns are baby pink if I remember correctly.
Here's a nice shot......
