I wonder why I cannot watch most new music videos on my Android tablet? Whenever I want to hear an oldie that I cannot find [[or don't want to dust off my turntable to listen to), I go to YouTube. I know they have a lot of new songs, but there is a treasure trove of cuts that I miss listening to from back in the day.
This is why I am so happy I managed to collect hundreds of thousands of oldies on CD in the 90s, did thousands of needle drops of old records, and ripped them all to hard drives and a server. This way, I can call up anything I want to listen to with ease AND with good sound quality. I'm not going to get quality sound from YouTube.
For new songs, I still listen to top 40 radio and check out stuff on Spotify before I buy. The reason is because I really don't like watching music videos, period. I never did.
YouTube has effectively replaced MTV as the way people discover new music alongside of radio.
