My Cherie Amour by Stevie Wonder was a hit in 1969. Ditto for Is that All There Is by Peggy Lee, and Witchita Lineman by Glen Campbell and Leavin' On A Jet Plane, Peter, Paul & Mary.

    Kamasu,

Tom's version of INFILA was released in'67, Mama Cass & Glen Campbell were both released in '68.

The other songs, except for Peggy Lee, I have on other related playlists on my I-Tunes. Thanks for mentioning them. Keep them coming!

Np Place, you were right about DALD by Mama Cass. I amended my earlier post and substituted Make Your Own kind of Music. The jury is still out on Tom Jones. most sources say I'll Never Fall... was a hit single in 1969 around the time Tom had his weekly ABC TV show. Was it a single in the UK? Your lists are fun. they inspire me listen to the songs and add sme to my radio show. They have me doing the late show which is Easy Listening. I do it because I get to play whatever I want.

I'm not sure if it was a single in the U.K. It was however a single here in the U.S. It debuted on both Billboard & Cashbox on 9/9/67 and peaked at #6 on both publications.

Wow, that has to be fun having your own radio show - and you get to play what you want! Cool. No worries, I have a lot more "Light & Easy" threads coming and other threads that would include ballads, slow jams, etc.

I'm confused. The Tom Jones single is featured on this disc.

The song did roll over into 1968; it was on Billboard's Pop Chart for 23 weeks and that may be the reason it was included on the CD. It could also have been included as an error; or perhaps the CD was an import and the songs were based on when it was released and/or charted in that country. It's not the first time I've seen that happen with compilations with titles such as "Top Hits Of 1966", etc. I always go with Joel Whitburn's books if the song charted, he's been doing chart research for nearly 30 years. I also checked Record World - it debuted in Sept. 1967 on their pop chart as well.

We are both right. I'll Never Fall ... was released in 1967 in the UK, it reached No. 2, but just the lower 40s in the US. It was re-released in 1969 in the US where it reached NO. 6.

OK. Although it was re-released here in 1969 , I always go by the original release date first; and if the song charted, I use the first date/year of entry.

Did you find the UK chart info on a site dedicated to just UK chart entries, similar to the Cashbox site we have here in the U.S? It would be fun to compare what songs charted in the U.K. that did not chart in the U.S. and vice-versa.

Try musicVF.com, NoPlace. TRY THE Tom Jones Search. Lots of chart info there for the US and UK. It says the song reached No. 1 on Adult Contemporary chart in 1969.

Thanks, Kamasu. Will definitely check out musicVF.com.

I have BB's AC chart book. It's been a while since I've picked it up but I remember seeing many songs on the AC chart that didn't make BB's Pop or R&B charts. It would be fun to create a thread with those songs.

    Marv,

I have SALSFM by Flying Machine on another one of my I-Tunes playlists. TBTHOT by Tyrone was released in 1970. Great songs.
