Have You Ever Bought A CD Just Because You Liked The Cover?

I have! Just this once. I bought The Devil Is A Busy Man for that reason and the fact that the one review about the CD raved about the music. Blues is not my favorite genre, but this guy's review piqued my interest. Plus I bought it used so it was just a few dollars.

Here is the CD cover -

    Anyone else?

    A 'FEW'?!

That was, for you, just the start of a very long line of attractive covers, wasn't it.... LOL

That's a really interesting question, Oldies. I was already hooked on the first cut released from this one but it was the cover that helped push me over the edge to purchase it. I looked at that cover so much in the store. It was destined to come home with me.

No...that would just be silly. If I happened to like the cover art, that would be a plus, but never just for the cover

Yes I have. It depends on what's on the cover. But I have to like some of the music too.

Hah! I remember when I was a boy, my dad bought this album [[Funkadelic "Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow) because it folded out to show that woman's beautiful behind:

I think that he listened to it once and just hung the jacket up on the wall, never to listen to again.

As a photographer, packaging always caught my attention. I can remember buying a Best of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and there were more than one. I contemplated between the two because I liked the cover of one but liked the song list of the one with the cover that I didn't like. Silly huh, but I guess it's the visual artist in me

Interesting you brought up Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, Glencro. There was an odd Best Of by the group with Teddy Pendergrass posing with the group in tuxes, but he was standing in his stocking feet with his shoes in his hand. I never could figure out what that was about. I guess his corns or bunions were aching?

I bought this at a flea market the other day. I don't need the tracks. I've got them many times over. But I liked the track order and the artwork

Kamasu, I've never seen that photo before but I can imagine Teddy was probably about to put the shoes on and the photographer just thought that him holding them would work for the pic. Oftentimes I'm shooting and a subject may scratch there forehead or do something without realizing it that just works for the photo. Just a guess.

    Hi!

There are two reasons why I bought one Mariah Carey CD in the 90s.

    Best regards

Here's another singer that my wife listens to with her eyes. He can't even sing in my opinion. But you see the pressure I'm under to stay fit!

We ALL do! I bought the first two Mariah Carey CD's, not just because I liked the music, but for the covers. Same with both Alannah Myles CD's I have and "The Look of Love" by Diana Krall. And I'll STILL do it...LOL!

    Best,

    Mark

There's not a whole lot to get excited about viewing the very reduced artwork on a CD. Frankly, I can't even read the liner notes or any of the print with reading glasses now. Probably due to WAY too much eye strain filling in teacher comments on pupils when I was a teacher, and only had so much space alloted on the computer format report cards. I often had to reduce my comments to 9 points to fit in all I had to say. LOL!

I do miss the 12 X 12 cover art format on vinyl records and still purchase them often at a local brick and motor music store that sells new copies of vintage recordings and some current release in that format as well!
