Very sad news. RIP Fontella.
So sad to hear. No one else could have done "Rescue Me" like her. RIP Fontella Bass.
RIP Ms. Bass, Rescue Me was played at many a house party during my youth.
Yes, I remember her and the song "Rescue Me" my parents played a lot at their house parties back in the day. Rest in peace Fontella.

R.I.P. Fontella thanks for the great music.
She had some great voice, may she rest in peace.
Fontella Bass was also the wife of Lester Bowie of The Art Ensemble Of Chicago. A lot of us
jazzheads remember her work with them and connections to the whole AACM collective
in general...

BTW, If I'm remembering correctly the drummer on Rescue Me was a cat named Maurice White who later used another AACM singer, Sherry Scott in the first generation EWF...
So sorry to hear this..........RIP
The good Lord has rescued Fontella Bass and taken her home to glory. May God comfort her loved ones and let them know she's home safe in her fathers Heavenly Mansion.

I was mortified when I saw this on the net. What is really a shame is that she was more than just Rescue Me although its a great song. She sang jazz really well. I am hoping that more people will discover her other recordings she has a great voice. RIP Fontella.
May Fontella now Truly Rest in Peace, thanks for the Joy she brought so many in the clubs I worked with "Rescue Me" xx
