DFTMC also shows that were acetates on all the songs from Around The World With The Supremes in '67, but no completed or recording dates! i believe i saw this album was in the planning stages around 1965. So have the gut feeling that the girls tour schedule didn't allow for them to get much done on these sessions and they are really just learning more about the songs and do not really get any where near a good take. Unless the acetates are complete instrumentals.

The one down side about the DFTMC website is that it doesn't list all of the recording dates to give a clear picture regarding the workings of a song. "Lonely Boy" is one of the songs where even though the website says it is completed doesn't really mean the song was fully completed. The June 22, 1967 date listed refers to the instrumental track. Ivy Jo Hunter did cut the song intended for the Supremes, but no vocals were added. During the summer of 1967 the Supremes were constantly on the move touring. Not much was cut on the group from the spring to early fall. Aside from vocals being added to a few songs within May and June, it wouldn't be until September through November [[especially November for Mary & Cindy) that they were back in the studio laying down vocals. "Lonely Boy," "Ask The Lonely" as well several HDH productions were among several tracks that never got to the point of getting vocals added in the summer of 1967.

thanks guys....some of the tracks listed on DFTMC that were supposed to have vocals but not completed say that it was just the band track...so it is very confusing when you see that a track actually says completed and not just band track recorded.

bradsupremes thanks for your wonderful insight, I would have thought the same that by
June 1967 the Supremes were not recording much especially with that Las Vegas Gig, and the turmoil that was waiting for the group later that month and into July.
