La Toya gets OWN reality show

The Jackson sibling will let cameras follow her life

Among the highlights on OWN’s 2012-13 schedule are a reality series starring La Toya Jackson, and Stephen Colbert dropping by Oprah’s Next Chapter.

Life With La Toya will follow Michael Jackson’s sister as she goes about her daily life, pursuing business opportunities and interacting with her family. A press release from the channel describes her as “the fun-loving aunt, devoted daughter, peacemaking sister and a woman looking for love, and maybe even a family of her own.”

“I am so pleased to be working with television legend Oprah Winfrey and to be part of the OWN family,” the 59-year-old said in a press release. This side of the border, Life With La Toya will broadcast on OWN Canada.

Jackson is no stranger to reality TV: she competed on The Celebrity Apprentice, appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, starred in Armed & Famous and has flitted in for guest gigs on Dancing With the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race and America’s Next Top Model.

Meanwhile, late-night funnyman Stephen Colbert will drop by on Oprah’s Next Chapter, which features Winfrey interviewing big names in entertainment, politics and news. Also scheduled as Next Chapter interview subjects are singer-actress Bette Midler, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and Boss star Kelsey Grammer.

Also on the docket for fall are two special episodes of Oprah’s Lifeclass. Additionally, Oprah: Where Are They Now? will revisit some of the biggest guests on Winfrey’s former daytime talk show, and The Customer is Always Right sees loyal customers advise CEOs on how to improve their brands, and Neighborvention focuses on a family in crisis that reaches out to their neighbours for a helping hand.

I always thought LaToya was not the fool people thought and now--she seems like the sanest of the whole family!
