One of my favorite tv themes is the closing to "WKRP in Cincinnati"...written and performed by Jim Ellis. The link below will show you what those famous inaudible words
    that Jim sings are...
    http://youtu.be/t8uH76COzk8
This is Jim talking about getting hired to write and record the WKRP closing theme
[[tonight I'll be airing the original closing theme, never used on the WKRP show).....
"Talk about lucking out! My first TV show turns out to be a sit-com legend. Hugh Wilson. Working for MTM Enterprises, created WKRP In Cincinnati, and Hired Tom Wells to write and produce original music for the show. Tom, in turn, hires me to arrange and orchestrate the opening theme that he and Hugh had written, and to write a rock and roll closing theme. I had originally written the closer to be an instrumental, but on the day of recording, I began joking around singing the melody that the saxophone would eventually play. Of course there were no lyrics and I was just sort of scatting gibberish. Well Hugh and Tom thought that was funny, and that it made a joke about the general unintelligibility of rock lyrics. So, out with the sax and in with the Jim Ellis' only professional job as a lead singer. Not bad if you're only going to have one."

Must Listen Radio. Every Tuesday Night..

Last week's show was the very definition of ''Blast From the Past.'' It was a hoot and a holler; blast included. And I know there's more coming tonight.

To paraphrase Jr. Walker: ''Take me . . . take me, Nightflight, I'm ready.''

    I think.

Carol Burnett in her own words. And then in conversation with Terry Gross. Both pieces heard together, what a huge treat and a great pleasure. Thank you, John. Just wonderful to listen in on the incomparable Burnett. Hadn't heard these pieces before. I'm so often late to the party, but you always make sure that I get there. NIGHTFLIGHT is always THE PARTY.

    ''Phyllis'' opening--my all-time favorite.
And Cloris Leachman is terrific in it.
Who could forget her expression at the end of that opening?!
