Note: Diana Ross-wise as a whole, as much as I play “Reach Out And Touch [[Somebody’s Hand)”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “Love Hangover”, “Upside Down”, and “Take Me Higher”, mostly got them on my Complete Motown Number Ones box set, some of my most played CDs to this day.

    9. Cherrelle - The Best of Cherrelle
    8. Toni Braxton – Toni Braxton

I see some greatest hits albums in people’s lists. Should they be considered proper albums, from an artistic standpoint anyway?

I purposely did not include a greatest hits/best of in my list because the recording process is entirely different. I wouldn't consider it to be the same as someone going in the studio to record an album that turned out being a masterpiece as opposed to piecing your best work together to create a masterpiece. To be fair, the post did ask for FAVORITE so if the best ofs are their favorite, hey, who am I to judge.

It says "soulful"....so to me that excludes Ella, Dinah, Sarah, etc.....but could include say Roberta Flack or Bettye LaVette.....both of whom will be on my list when I can settle on one particular album over another.

In the mean, between time, I'll start with

    Lady Soul - Aretha

And I also think GH's are cheating.
