“Mary Wilson may not be the best-known member of The Supremes, but she can lay claim to being in the group longer than anyone other member of the trailblazing female super group. Take away The Supremes moniker and Wilson is an incredible performer in her own right, combining raw talent with an elegance that is matched by her humility.

Wilson performed two shows at Seneca Niagara’s Bears Den Saturday, I caught the matinee performance in the intimate venue. As expected, Wilson lived up to her status as a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and put on a wonderful show filled with great musical moments and spontaneous interactions with the crowd.

As soon as Wilson hit the stage, she filled the room with her radiance. Wilson combines all of the elements of the great female performers from the sixties. Her performance combined elements of Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Diana Ross. Whether she needed to strut around the stage belting out a Rolling Stones cover like “Satisfaction” or a beautiful ballad like Sting’s “Fields of Gold,” Wilson pulled it off with precision.

What really made the show work was her obvious love of performing. Wilson’s command of the stage is awe-inspiring, regardless of the size of the venue. Every up and coming performer should be required to see Wilson.

After the show, Wilson graciously signed autographs and posed for pictures for an hour after the show. In spite of a hectic evening of travel and a second show scheduled for later that evening. Wilson smiled and joked with her fans and didn’t rush any of them through the line. After all the fans were gone she gave a great interview to BackstageAxxess, one that you will see on the site shortly.”

I was at both shows with my friends. It was a lot of fun! Mary always brings her "A game". I went up onstage during both shows to be a Supreme. lol. I will share the review I posted on Ticketmaster very shortly.

For the time being, here is an interview Mary did after the first show with BackstageAxxess.com. Scroll down to see the video.

Both shows were a lot of fun. Mary was in good spirits and she was having a lot of fun with the audiences. At one moment, Mary joked about how she still can't find a man and one gutsy guy in the audience stood up and said, "I'll marry you! I'll get the ring too!" Mary just about died from laughter!

She also mentioned her single, "Life's Been Good To Me" and her upcoming album. She said she's been mentioning it for over five years and said that people are going to think she's lying, but she's hoping it will be released very soon. The label is still working on getting a distributor.

I will be posting my formal review soon...

Great photos Carlo. The male back up singer is so darned cute and Mary looks great. Mary's chin looks so strong and refined in the top photo. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mary Wilson has the prettiest chin on the planet.

    Thank you for sharing these.

    My very best to you,

    Roberta

I guess I should have phased that differently. I liked her chin the way it was before she got that implant. Too many people think they need those cosmetic procedures when in reality they really don't. Mary looked great without having to resort to those measures.

If it is an implant BigAl, Miss Mary Wilson certainly picked the best one in the world. I think Mary's current chin is very sensual but strong. It shows she's a tough lady and a survivor but also shows a very feminine side. No, I respectfully disagree with you on this one, Mary's chin is the best in the business and I love it.

    With kind regards,

    Roberta

Oh, I agree there. It was a very well-done cosmetic job, unlike the extreme messes that some folks end up with, and only a die-hard fan would probably even take notice. I just didn't think it was really necessary since she's such a looker anyway.

At 68 years young, Mary Wilson is one of the ultimate performers out there today. While many know her as a former member of The Supremes, her legacy and talent as an artist goes far beyond her history with the legendary group. Once a backup vocalist behind Diana Ross, Mary is now an outstanding vocalist and performer with amazing stage presence. Her entertaining and captivating shows combine many different elements, including energy, glamour, emotion, authenticity and interaction. Mary keeps The Supremes legacy alive by performing a number of Supremes hits during her show, as well as some dazzling and breathtaking covers, such as "I Am Changing" and "Fields of Gold". Mary's versatility is also demonstrated in her covers of numbers like, "Satisfaction", "Brown Sugar" and "Think". She also spends time interacting with the audience and having the audience participate throughout the show, creating a spontaneous and fun show for all. She also spent a considerable amount of time after both shows, signing autographs and taking photos with fans. She is so kind and down to earth.
I have seen all of the legendary divas in concert: Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, etc. Mary certainly ranks near the top of the list. She is a force to be reckoned with. Her show is a must see!
Favourite moment: When I joined Mary onstage to dance to "Baby Love" and "Stop! In the Name of Love".
Setlist: Love Child, Reflections, My World Is Empty Without You, Come See About Me, Back In My Arms Again, You Can't Hurry Love, Think, Fields of Gold, You Are So Beautiful, Bad Case of Loving You, Baby Love, Stop! In the Name of Love, You Keep Me Hangin' On, Walk the Line, I Am Changing, Here's To Life, Someday We'll Be Together, Satisfaction, Brown Sugar, Last Dance.

Lord, now we're discussing chins? That's like saying, "I liked Diana's real teeth better."

    Sweet Jesus.

Admittedly, an ancillary discussion of cosmetic surgical procedures certainly isn't germane to the topic of music and performance, but I don't see how it's any different from discussions of gowns, hairstyles, and so forth — things which are discussed here all the time. It's all part of the larger package.
