    Favourite "runs" of singles

Listening to a Marvelettes Greatest Hits cd today led me to thinking about what I consider to be great runs of consecutive singles by any Motown artist - I'm thinking not just a group of singles I like, but REALLY like in a 'tip-top, class A+, top of their game at that time, desert island disc' type way.

I'll start the bidding with 5 - [[obviously) the Marvelettes "as long as i know he's mine' through 'he's a good guy', 'you're my remedy' 'too many fish in the sea' to 'i'll keep holding on'. Raise me, anyone?

I don't even need to list the songs by The Temptations from "The Way You Do the Things You Do" all the way up to "I Truly, Truly Believe". They had a fantastic run of singles three years!

This Temptations "run" is most memorable to me:

    1968: "Cloud Nine"
1968: "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me"
[[Diana Ross & the Supremes and the Temptations)
1969: "Run Away Child, Running Wild"
    1969: "I Can't Get Next to You"
    1970: "Psychedelic Shack"
    1970: "Ball of Confusion

The Marvin & Tammi run mentioned above by johnjeb stands head and shoulders above any other, that gets my vote.

For me it has to be the 'new' Supremes run of first 5 singles -

Up The Ladder To The Roof
Everybody's Got The Right To Love
    Stoned Love
    River Deep, Mountain High
    Nathan Jones

For me, this run of singles are an absolute joy.

"Were The Supremes THAT old? From the covered wagon days???"

I thought it was well known that HDH re-worked their material on a constant basis. Surely you realise Baby Love came from When You And I Were Young, Maggie. And that I Cannot Sing The Old Songs would eventually become It's The Same Old Song?
