Howdy Folks! Tonight...on "Nightflight"...Part one of a 2 part series celebrating the heartbeat of Motown...Earl Van Dyke and the Soul Brothers...later given the nickname "The Funk Brothers". Hip-O and Motown Select are releasing imminently "Earl Van Dyke: The Motown Sound...The Complete Albums and More". Tonight, I'll be playing for you Funk Brothers instrumental tracks and some remixes that truly show not only what amazing musicians these folks were [[as if you need me to show you!), but show how magnificently Motown artists were able to perform within these incredible tracks. Our friend in Motown, Harry Weinger has shared a number of tracks from the EVD Collection for me to share with you tonight. Thank you so much, Harry!!

And next week...for part 2...Harry will join me on "Nightflight" to talk about the EVD Collection. I'm always excited and honored when Harry can take a moment to join us! Jay....I did have Brenda on for about 20 minutes about 5 years ago....but we had a bad connection and I couldn't salvage the recording I made of the show. If you see her again.....PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...I would be grateful!

'Cordin' to Complete Motown Singles 67- Frank Wilson wrote "Just Look What You've Done" for Brenda before he moved to Detroit but waited till he got there to cut it with the Funk Brothers. Brenda says- "Frank rehearsed me so much . I fashioned the song after his version the way he sang it"

Loving all the Brenda tracks tonight! We need another cellarful or tool shed or bomb shelter of Holloway unreleased goodies/alternates soon. I dont care what they call it and long as it comes out!

Maybe all the upcoming Gladys exposure on DWTS might spur Universal to do some digging for some Gladys vault material. They might get "Pipped" to the post by her upcoming solo CD though.....
