    "Nightflight" Tue Feb 7, 9P-12M ET:Don Cornelius/Soul Train Tribute!

Howdy, Folks! Tonight, on "Nightflight", I thought it would be fitting to spend our 3 hours paying tribute to a man who created something very important to Motown, Soul and R&B...to the music and entertainment industries... and to us. Don Cornelius died a week ago...but he gave us an opportunity, every week, to view our favorite artists singing [[or lipsyncing) their new or classic hits. Don hosted the iconic "Soul Train" weekly from 1971 to 1993. He amazingly broke racial and regional barriers. He gave us time together on the weekends to see stylish, funky and outrageous outfits and dances and helped us to feel part of something exciting and significant.
Tonight, I'll air some of Don's and "Soul Train's" performances and interviews. Don's interviews often were most revealing and surprising. So, join me tonight for a tribute to the genius of Don Cornelius and "Soul Train"...on "Nightflight"...on WOMR 92.1 Fm Provincetown and WFMR 91.3 FM Orleans and streaming live worldwide in digital stereo at www.womr.org

    Love...Peace...and Soul!
    Thanks!
    John

Looking at this with my continental eyes, is it right to say that what Soul Train was for 70's Supremes, Ed Sullivan was for the sixties Supremes?

Robbert...I think you could say that! But Ed Sullivan was a cavalcade of so many types of entertainment...opera, plate spinners, puppets, comedians...and occasionally a motown or soul act. "Soul Train" always had 2 acts doing a number of songs each...and then, in between, we got to hear some of the latest soul, Motown or Philly songs and watch those kids dance.

Looking forward to catching the Train tonight John. It's always a nicer way to travel. No body scans, inappropriate cavity searches, or worrying about carry on bottle sizes like you have to deal with when flying....

Doing great, thanks Tony. Found out today that my A1C percentage went from 6.6 to 6.1. My diabetes is under control with the help of meds, exercise, and improved diet.
