a few years ago, Smokey Robinson appeared on American Idol with Joss Stone,for a duet on a 'new song of his, "You're The One For Me",which was basically the old Marvelettes song, minus the "Bobby"; I called him on it on the Velvet Rope industry message board;
was that discussed here at the time it happened?

Is that really the same song? Wow, I guess I haven't heard it in a long time. I would have never thought that was the same song. The verse seems completely different. I'll have to watch this again after I get the "Sophisticated Soul" set in the next few days.

The only thing that is the same is the chorus. The verses are completely different.

the chorus and the title are the same;
and the verses are diferent so that Smokey isn't singing about a guy..it's musically the same song
