My favorite from Jimmy Norman, with the O'Jays. Absolutely beautiful!

That would make THREE Northern soul heroes over the past couple of weeks, after Tommy Storm [[Fabulous Peps) and Percy Williams [[the Metros). He made consistently good records over the years...RIP, Jimmy, and thank you...
Best,
Mark
I hope its not the Jimmy Norman who had the hit of Here Comes The Night. I know there are several Jimmy Norman's.
Yes Tom, that's him. He worked with HB Barnum, on Little Star and also
Imperial.
Great song...

He also co-wrote [[lyrics) for "Time Is On My Side" for Irma Thomas. According to Norman, he was never paid for the song, which of course went on to become a huge hit for The Rolling Stones. He recorded a version of the song as well, credited to the O'Jays, I believe, on Imperial.
There is a nice bio of him on Wikipedia.

Also, my condolences go out to him.
The original version of "Time Is On My Side" was recorded by Kai Winding and Irma Thomas' version charted before the Stones. Norman later worked with The Coasters.
So sorry to hear about Jimmy. Here Comes The Night brings back some great memories for me and Jimmy also had a couple other songs I really liked. Heaven must be truly a SOUL HEAVEN! RIP Sweet Man.
Never heard of him. Thanks for the enlightenment. RIP
Jimmy I listened to your songs yesterday! You will be missed.
