Thank God this song wasn't out in 1968 when I got my heart broken..........no it was shattered. Guess what, out of the blue in January he called me after 42 years! We saw each other in April and gosh darn it, I'm still attracted to him. We're taking baby steps as he's in VA and I'm in Philly with plans to relocate to GA when I retire next year. Do y'all want to hear the story?

I'll put it in the Clubhouse so that I won't hijack this thread tomorrow. We're busy today getting ready for Halloween.

    Roger,

Absolutely wonderful group & I'm glad that you posted the original version, which is spectacular. Usually, just as with Lakeside's I Want To Hold your Hand, folks tend to post The Controllers remake of Somebody's Gotta Win. No disrespect to the fellas & their remake but if you grew up with the original version then the remake will never do.

The Controllers were some hellified soulful singers & made a fine transition from 1970's Soul, to the Linn Drum laden R&B of the 80s, without losing an ounce of Soul. I have their LPs & here are some of my favorite cuts by The Controllers, LP by LP. But first, before the LP came this cut from 1975...

Is That Long Enough For You

Juice, a very nice selection of tunes by The Controllers.

And we can't talk about The Controllers without highlighting David Camon, for he is a major factor in the success of The Controllers. Vocalist, songwriter, bassist, producer, his career outside of the Controllers included working with Sam Dees with whom he cowrote the brilliant "Cry To Me" by Loleatta Holloway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiU6Ia2MqeI

CL Blast Husband - In - Law is another great track.

David also co wrote with Sam, Tyrone's "HOME WRECKERS" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bkO6ziDV60

Here's David solo with the very funky "Living Underground". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwBp7Q6ulFE PLAY IT LOUD!
