I really hate how Motown, or Hip-O mixes up a Motown solo artist's hits with the group they were once associated with. They do the same thing to Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, and Smokey Robinson, and now Diana Ross. I hate it!

The Supremes songs were included to make it appear that SHE had more hits. They really shouldn't be there if the package is going to be called a "Diana Ross Greatest Hits" CD. It seems like they release a greatest hits on her every other year and the it's the same old songs....... Maybe it's for the picture? It's very nice,b ut it is also very old.

By "supermarkets," I think you mean "super stores." These are the Wal-Marts, Targets, Best Buy, and so on, here in the U.S.

Yes, that has been true for some time. They don't even stock top 40 anymore; just top 10 maybe. All the chain "record" stores here in the U.S. have closed, at least here in the West. Perhaps there are still some back East; I don't know. But Tower, Wherehouse, Virgin, etc., those are all gone.

Los Angeles still has some independent sellers. Amoeba being the major example. Hopefully, it will do well for a long, long time.

Here in the UK, there are still supermarkets in town centres, offering a small selection of CDs.

The larger edge of town outlets are generally designated as 'super stores' ...with most selling food.

For the record [[no pun intended) and for accuracy, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard are singing on "Where Did Our Love Go?", "Stop in the Name Of Love", "Reflections", "Come See About Me". She knew who she was singing with on these songs because they were all there together.

There won't be a big demand for in here in the UK either. All good record shops & some supermarkets have various 'Best Of' etc in stock! As for online........

In fact, in general, many comps created in the U.K. are meant for U.S. audiences because they know that's who wants them. After all, the U.S. domestic labels don't do the job.

Ross greatest hits packages ALWAYS sell well in the U.K. If projects like this bring in the bucks - or should I say brings in a quid for Universal to finance other projects like 'More Hits Expanded', then I'm all for it.

NICE list Redlabs. I'd love to have some of those on a compilation as well. I don't mind there being Supremes tracks, it was a huge part of her career, and if it keeps more casual fans happy, then great. But, it would be best if they only used those to fill out the album AFTER they included all her great hits, instead of leaving some out for the Supremes tracks.

Laurel: I'm just guessing here, but I'd assume that it won't be sold here in America directly. However, after these things come out, places like Amazon and other sites typically get them here through independent sellers.

Ok, just downloaded it from iTunes UK since they included the booklet with purchase so here's a few initial thoughts and spoilers....

Essay is nice [[author not listed) but does have a few minor typos that don't bother me personally but seem to send the diehards into a tizzy on this board so be forewarned. The photos are nice but no images we've haven't seen in some form before [[The 76 Greatest Hits Cover, the #1's cover with heads included, the One Woman Best of Cover, etc.)

Haven't listened to it all the way through but all the RCA years stuff carries the 1993 copyright so I suspect they pulled the Forever Diana / One Woman Ultimate tapes and used those when compiling however the few cuts I've gotten through sound better than those collections did. Single edits abound here, most in stereo but a few mono mixes as well. Diana is listed as executive producer, however, Debbie Sandridge compiled and sequenced it. The coordinator for Ms. Ross was Rosanne Shelnutt. No other thank you's or detailed info provided just a blurb to go to the official Facebook page. I think the last paragraph sums up the package perfectly...
