OMG putting down a woman who may wear a girdle--on a forum devoted to aprreicating the music she and others recorded. I guess thats why that new thread was put up about the negativity here. Ok I try to ignore this stuff so back I go. The casinos would love The Supremes-any grouping.

First of all, I don't recall any of those people being a part of the subject matter of this thread. Rob brought up Diana Ross [[as he is very known to do...) so she became a part of this, another Supremes related thread. Those towns are not so bad, I've been to and worked in the ones noted in this thread. Yet it is still a far cry from a standing / limited engagement in say Vegas or New York!

Just putting it into perspective. You made it seem as though there was something wrong with the small and smaller blue collar towns. Many would kill to consistently perform in venues half the size of these.

No! You misread or misunderstood what I was saying. Rob had said that NO ONE on Earth basically is interested in the Supremes as a group without Diana Ross. I was attempting to show that even her popularity has waned significantly. I was trying to draw a distinction between the types of places she use to customarily play vs. the types of places she is currently playing. Hell, I am from Detroit/Toledo and you don't get anymore blue collar than that!

No, I do not believe many would kill to perform in some of those places which equate to the size of any High School auditorium in this country.

And I was simply pointing out that this is a situation that is not exclusive to her. It's life. Maybe "kill" is too strong a word. Ask any other Supreme who is currently active if she would "like" to be successfully performing in venues that seat 1,000-1,250 [[roughly half of Diana's most recent engagements) and see what she says.

    You are absolutely correct `````
Without Diana there is no reunion. If anyone disagree tell them to ask Mary or Cindy.

Get real guys; you are stuck in the 60's and remember, Mary couldn't even sing then. Mind you, I suppose it's guys like you that keep the gal goin.........and support is support even if it comes in a girdle.

I am LOL at the people who posted that American Idol, The X Factor, Letterman, The View and Jay Leno would jump at a Mary, Scherrie, Cindy reunion.

That has to be the most delusional thing I have read in years. Funny as all heck but pure fantasy. LOL

Without Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong......you get cancelled! That's been proven, everything else is just speculation.

I dunno, but for the great big Diana Ross, this is quite a come down!

Rick, did you take these pictures? Get to go to the show?

Luke, sorry that you thought Mary was in a girdle and I suppose she could well have been. But my reference was to the guys coming to the show in a girdle; and I'll bet there were a few! These old girls have to take whoever will come to their shows these days, in girdles, with canes, and almost all with gray hair or no hair at all.

My recent concerts with the Temptations and Diana Ross were a sea of gray hair.

I saw her at a sold out concert at Radio City Music Hall last year. The place looked quite a bit larger than my high school auditorium. She does not have to worry about her popularity. The other performing Supremes are also doing pretty good with their careers, quite a feat considering that they have all been performing for almost half a century.

Yeah, but you cannot compare New York City with other places. We are one of the biggest cities in the World. If she could sell out Yankee Stadium in a Metro Area of upwards of 14 million, then you got something!

Well Marv has a point.........Diana is down from 500,000 or 600,000 the first nite in Central Park, to 400,000 or so the next nite............to 2500 or so now. And she put the house up for $40 million and probably didn't get it. [[But now when Aretha stops by, she doesn't need the big bed anymore, so she saved some money.) And Diane ain't hittin the highest notes anymore and the voice isn't as smooth as 1983 or 1965.

So, I don't imagine she'd put anyone out of her concerts for poppin a camera at her anymore. She needs everyone she can get!

And the other Supremes...........we better not do an inventory.

The others? As far as I know only Mary Wilson is active at this time and she is on tour with the Lena Horne Project to be followed up closely later this month with a second tour of the U.K. , but this time with Bill Wyman of Rolling Stones fame. She stays busy and does good business. This year alone saw a solo tour of Russia and the Ukraine, a Winter tour of the U.K., two weeks in Las Vegas at the Riveria, other concerts one of which brought her back to New York City's Coney Island this summer. In between she's been doing her lectures and guest appearances for select groups civic and government, oh and launching her gowns exhibit in different locations. In between all that there are the interviews she gives frequently. What else would you like for her to do? We still have about 2 months left in this year.....Whew! LOL!

You have to ask some one else about the others and their desire to tour small towns across the U.S.A.

How come Ticketmaster shows no Mary Wilson concerts? Or do they just concentrate on Major artists? Her name shows up but little else.

Beats me. Maybe check Pollstar? I don't think she has any concerts planned for the near future in Canada, but that may change. Also check www.marywilson.com

One has to wonder what the motivation of bringing Ross into this great thread of MCS celebrating their friendship. It makes no sense. Why not enjoy it for what it is.

you know what,Miss Ross sold more tickets this past year than Rhianna,a chart topper who can't GIVE her tickets away, and more than Christina Aguliera[[whom I adore) who had to cancel a tour because her venues were selling less tickets per venue than Miss Ross...so there ya go...
