    Valerie Simpson

I thought this was one of the best songs to come out of Motown

But the album did little and hardly anyone knows the song

This was also Midnight Johnny’s extended version

    He’s missed so much here

"Love Woke Me Up This Morning" was also released on The Temptations, from the "All Directions" album, with Damon on lead voc, and well worth a listen!! Another version can also be found on Marvin & Tammi's 1969 LP "Easy".

Too dead? When you're dead, you're dead. But degrees of deadness could be an interesting concept for further discussion LOL.

Too dead as in not enough interest

Plus Valerie was one of Diana’s main producers and writers and Diana wrote the liner notes for Exposed and they recorded a few of the same songs - so close enough??

Yep. Of course :-) And it's a superb album, from start to finish.

    6 Degrees of Diana?

Or maybe we've finally discussed and dissected everything for the 12000th and last time?

Quick, someone start a M25 or RTL thread!

Don’t you think these 2 songs of Valerie’s rate with the best of Diana and better than anything from any other Motown women?

Well it’s all subjective and today I really like these songs and I’ve loved them for a long time

There's also a live version by the Temptations from their Live in Japan album. Brenda Holloway also cut a version in late 1967. And Valerie also recorded a version in May '67.

The Temptations is better than the Marvin version on Easy.

It’s always said that Valerie did the singing on Easy, not Tammi.

Is that really Valerie? If so, she is a lot better on Exposed than on Easy.

Different strokes and all that, but i much prefer Marvin and Valerie’s version to that of the Temptations being one of my very favourite Motown songs.
According to my finely tuned musical ears, Tammi is nowhere in sight on that recording.
