    Four Tops nicknames

In a 60's UK mag article it refers to the members of the 4 Tops by their [[then) nicknames ....
DOOK, OBI, GRASS and BROWN ...
DOOK [[Duke) and OBI are obvious.
But why was Laurence called GRASS & Levi BROWN ?

More importantly, I want to know why their L-R name identifications didn't match the photo, as they misidentified Levi as Duke, and Duke as Levi.

On a related note [[meaning nicknames) don't I recall reading somewhere along the line that Berry Gordy had the nickname Black? I seem to recall Smokey saying something about that once.

Gordy and Diana Ross have always referred to each other as "Black." That might have started with Smokey.
