Question Shocking question about marvelettes please mr postman

I heard from one source that there were two young unknown singers on PMP who, as I am typing are still alive today. And, no, I am not talking about the Andantes.

Any thoughts about this obscure information behind the song that put motown on the map?

What's your source? How "obscure" could this be?
Were these young unknowns 2 of the original Marvelettes who later had to drop out?
Are you referring to when Flo gave Gladys some suggestions on singing the song?

Of course it isn't. If in well over 60-some years nobody's ever heard about anything like this...

I'm just trying to understand what would have been so shocking about it if it were true...unless the 2 unknowns were singers who ended up going into porn or something like that- think: Andrea True. Then I might be shocked. And maybe very curious.

It's like a headline from The Sun 'newspaper'. Click-bait!

Nope. Have no thoughts on it. Just hope you keep on typing so that they stay alive

It wasn't uncommon for other artists to be in the studio for someone else's session and the producer wanting more voices to create a fuller sound so it happened frequently.

I just learned that Gladys Knight and the Pips are singing backup on Marvin Gaye's "You". Can someone confirm with source? I thought it was the Originals. They are behind him on Chained and many other selections from that period

Wow, Reese, that was a fast response and I thank you for this. For years I had the suspicion that I was hearing Gladys and Co. on that record but it's absolutely wonderful to now have the proof in print after all these years.

I’m not really sure what the point of this thread was, but isn’t it true that Marvin Gaye both played drums and sang back up in the Marvelettes song? It seems to me you can hear his distinctive tenor in the background, but I haven’t listened for it in years.

Interesting conversation. It is called ¨Making records¨. Whatever it takes to make the record good. Not sure if I missed it, but it is difficult to imagine the Four Tops without the incredible Andantes backing them up.
