    H&O - Maneater

We all know how sue-happy the Gaye's are; if anything even smells like a Marvin record, they're ringing up their lawyer on speed-dial!

I wonder why HDH never sued Hall and Oates over "Maneater"? That base line is a direct ripoff of "You Can't Hurry Love".

I don't think you can sue over a music arrangement. And IMO, the melody lines are different.

I remember the HDH track in question as "I'm Ready For Love", and not the one you've got. Do correct me if I've got it wrong.

I first thought someone else covered YCHL when I heard Maneater...I despise Phil's version....YCHL actually dropped out of my top 5 Supremes songs b/c I heard PC's so much!!!!
I did like DL Byrons rave up of YCHL...its on the highly tooted but big flop 1980 cult movie TIMES SQUARE 2 LP soundtrack....the lead off track on that LP is Detroit native Suzi Quatro's ROCK HARD....I was hoping and thought for sure Suzi would get a radio hit with that song...

Whenever "Maneater" comes on the radio, I think it's going to be "Part Time Lover".
