This almost went sideways for me. Getting three letters that can combine for a host of words sometimes results in a loss. I listened to my intuition to solve it.

Yeah, it can be intimidating most days. I'm just glad it's only 16 words. I would hate to have to figure out the best 16 words out of 17, or even 20, words. It's good that we really only need to figure out 12 words for 3 groups, especially if the remaining category is a bizarre category, as Jerry has pointed out on a few occasions. I consider the last group as a gimmee.

Nina, once again the purple group is ridiculous. Those are all words that school kids manage to spell with the numbers on their calculators. For example, 515 and 7718 [upside down] on the square digits of a calculator look like "SIS" and "BILL". The puzzle makers should be ashamed of themselves for that one.
