Favorite line or sentence sung by Ross?

My favorite sentence sung by Ross is,

“It must have been hard to tell me,” from Touch Me In The Morning

    She nails it!

It is not my favorite but I love when she sings "You had me apologize for things I didn't do" in NO ONE'S GONNA BE A FOOL FOREVER.

“Baby, baby, baby don’t leave me.”

It’s my favorite because it’s the first one I ever heard her sing.

    Today I saw somebody
    who looked just like you,
    he walked like you do,
    I thought it was you.

OMG, Circa, so many lines from so many songs come to mind, simply because Ross is my favorite song stylist & interpreter. This one is my favorite. [I remember David Letterman making fun of the "silly" lyrics of the Stylistics hit. Ross's delivery of these lines made Letterman's flippant remark irrelevant to me.]

'How can Mary tell me what to do
When she lost her love so true?
    And Flo, she don't know
'Cause the boy she loves is a Romeo'

No come on kids, I want you to gather around me, and fold your legs on the floor.
And we're gonna tell the story about the first Christmas.
    Alright, Chico, open your book.
Joy, Berry, Terry, everybody open your book and we're gonna sing the song.
And when I say "Ding and Dong", I want you to say the same with me.
Alright ready? Aaha now, open your books. Good, let's go, yeah. Now!

YES! Here's a close # 2 to those lines from the DRATS & Temptations "Why":
"Then you walked away, I just stood there numb
    I had nothing to say
Into the night you walked away with my life."

A 3rd would be Diana's "on and on and on" in "I Hear a Symphony"

A 4th would be from "Love is Here and Now You're Gone":
"You made your words sound so sweet
Knowing that your love I couldn't keep." [[she sounds so devastated singing those words)

"All of a sudden that old rain's falling down and my world is cloudy and gray" from Stormy.

Incredible interpretation of that lyric by her. I love her entire vocal on that entire song. One of her gifts was song interpretation and this song is masterpiece of why.

    LOL

That "yeah" is one of my most annoying Diana moments. I cringe every time. Every. Time.

Good one. I got chills as I read this line and recall all the guts Diana put into that line! Quincy really took Diana to some uncharted vocal territories in the musical arrangements from "The Wiz."

SO many to choose from! At this moment I’m going with “I cry not for myself, but for those who’ve never felt the joy we’ve felt” from IHAS..

And, at this moment, I’m going with a bit from LILAIIMH [[especially from the live version on Sullivan):

    “Now, when you're ill
    You take a pill
    When you're thirsty
    Drink your fill
What you gonna do, oh yeah
    When love gets a hold
    A hold on you”

And now at this moment, I’m going with this from A-Go-Go’s “Baby, I Need Your Lovin’” [[quite possibly my very favorite bit from her/The Supremes ever):

“In the midnight hours, When I reminisce and I start feeling’ blue
That’s when, baby, I need you - yes, I do.
And when I run out of things to do, my mind falls on you, yeah…
    Baby, and that’s when I need you…yes, I do…”

Again, SO many to choose from!

I wish there were easy emoji's....your choices would be plastered with hearts. I'm not a lyric person so I don't really know any "punchy" lines although I can sing most of the Supremes songs. But I very much appreciate your favourites and it makes me appreciate her as a song stylist which I had never really considered before. It's always been about the music for me.

Yes, again, they are some memorable lines and Diana interprets them to a 'T'. She doesn't sound so cutesy and delivers them in a very raw, sincere styling. By the way I prefer the mono version of Baby I Need Your Loving especially during this section.

    From "Love Child"

    "Don't think that I don't need you
    Don't think I don't wanna please you
But no child of mine will be bearing
The name of shame I've been wearing"

I LOVE the way the tension builds as she sings those lines!!

Yes, Diana's vocals on "Take Me Where You Go" are all cutesy and girlish. Another line from that song which Diana's delivers with so much "syrup" is "you may be a prince or a pauper."

You could be a prince or a pauper

I love this thread. It appears that many of the submissions are not just on the lines themselves; however, focusing on the way Diana delivers the lines. Over the years, she has demonstrated that she indeed one of the greatest stylists while not necessarily having the strongest or even the 'best' voice.

Having somehow gotten over the kid's resistance to opening their books [[3 times she had to ask), they finally all get down to it, and then we get the reprise version...

    Very good, now darlings.
And now we're gonna sing "Ding Dong" to all the children around the world,
and wish them a very merry Christmas, alright? Ready?

Girls Girls Girls!!!! You Are Passion...

I mean Edna Garrett aka Charlotte Rae was served with that one LOL...

Ok, in all seriousness from a more modern day Ross interpretation...

Last night while we were talking, the way that old friends do
I suddenly got lost in my yesterdays with you
I told you that in my heart, you would always be the one
That I'd lie waking in the dark, pray that you will come

Just like a thief in the night
    You stole
    My heart away
But now that you stolen it darling
    I've only got
    One thing to say

    Tighter, pull 'em tighter
Till I feel love's sweet pain
    'Cause these chains of love
    Keep me from going insane

In a world without you I will

    Whenever you smile
But I call you Stormy... today

    All of a sudden

    You've gone away

On "Endless Love" when Lionel sings "and I" and Diana comes in on the "I", I just love that part.

On "Never Again" when she sings "but I'll never...come back to you", I felt that.
