Velvelettes live - Lonely Lonely Girl am I

This is a grainy clip but I LOVE this song and the way they move.

This is one song by them never tire of but I had never seen this clip before. I did not dish out the bucks for their anthology but I am going to get it they have some really good songs outside of their two major hits: Needle and Really Sayin Something. I wonder how Cal and the girls felt when Bananarama redid Saying Something. Help me Xtown was it Bananarama I know it wasnt the Bangles? I always wondered if that helped to expose the Velvelettes to a new audience.

Hi Steph - yeah it was Bananarama - who I still love lol! They exposed me to the Velvelettes, and also to the 70's Supremes [[they did Nathan Jones too)

Cal explains that there was just too much competition. It was understood and accepted that Mr Gordy had to promote the act that would yield the biggest return and that was the Supremes. With hindsight, it seems he made the right decision.

Steph - somewhere on Youtube, there is a better clip.
